With recent reports placing Florida as the US state with the most seizures of illegal drugs and a booming rise in addicts of Meth, Oxycodone, and MDMA, it’s good to know that a fellow ship like FAMILIES & FRIENDS OF ADDICTS: Nar-Anon has a presence in the community.  The Nar-Anon fellowship is comprised of friends and family members who are worried that there loved one has an addiction or drug problem.  Nar-Anon’s recovery program is an adaptation from Narcotics Anonymous and uses its own Twelve Steps methods known as Nar-Anon’s Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions, and Twelve Concepts.

One of the major nar-anon events that will be held in the following months is the 3rd Annual Nar-Anon: Memorial Day Weekend Convention, which takes place May 23rd and 24th in Fort Lauderdale, at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Airport Resort.  Registration is open to the public and plenty of spaces to the related events are still available, such as an 18 and under meeting.

Another major event is the 2nd Annual 12 Step Music Fest, which will be taking place November 5-8 (2009) at Sugarloaf Key (mile marker 20) KOA Campground in the Florida Keys.  It is being produced by No Matter What Productions, a not for profit charity, and is being sponsored by the new online, social recovery, networking website: In the Rooms.com This year’s performers include, Richie Supa and Mike Zito.  Tickets are still available.  For more information check out the website at: http://www.12stepmusicfest.com/general/master.php?pn=about12step

    hello. i met a NA member that has been clean for 6 months. now he seems to be addicted to sports. he has obsessive compulsive disorder as well as violence and sexual bdsm tendencies. he’s trying to deal with all. he is open and frank about his situtation. and i am in love with this guy. he’s a very intelligent, kind, lovable person and i know that. i just need info on how i should behave? he has enough pain and problems and i don’t want to be another hardship in his life. is there any info or literature helpful for friends and relatives of NA members?

    I need someone to contact me to help me walk through some serious decesion making re: 40 y/r son. Please email dottie griggs@yahoo.com.
    He started with smoking weed about 14 y/o and has probally gone through it all now. He has had about 3 operations in the past year to staff inf. from shooting H. He tells me now while I have left the state and am not around that he has been clean for 2 months. He wants me to come back to fl and set up a home 4 us again. In my mind I am not convienced, all I know is the lies he has told me in the past, that he has stollen from me, brought other users or sellers into my home, kept my life in an uproar, which has effected both my mental and physical health. I have tried to say no more chances unless u go through a years program. But it is now down to the wire, I go back or he goes to the streets or rehab. Do I let my son go to the streets, he is 40 y/r. what if he commits sucide. because I do not help how do I live with this? God forgives, do we not follow His example. I am so mixed up please help me.
